Teachers and teaching have always been an important part of my life. I know the names of all of my teachers since first grade. My grandmother was a high school English and Latin teacher. My mother was a high school history teacher and I was a high school biology teacher. I also taught in the biggest classroom in the school for 25 years after that as a teacher librarian. I validated my role as a teacher when I received my National Board Certification in 2004. This year I continue to teach as an instructional technology specialist, training teachers to use and integrate technology.
As a side note, I was lucky enough to attend two summer workshops at The Library of Congress and have fallen in love with primary sources! I couldn’t resist including one of my favorite pictures from the Prints & Photographs Division as part of my blog! This panoramic photograph of the Bathing Girl Parade was taken in 1917 at Seal Beach in California.
